Last year I was at a crossroads – whether to continue gardening or build something on top of my long-lasting hobby – woodworking – and I continued to do the latter. Having completed my 3rd year at Chichester College with a degree in Design and Manufacturing (furniture) – had a great time here(!) – spending the year doing what I like, surrounded by like-minded people. My prototype is called Martha – the Bread Box. This is a recreation of the American bread box design for housewives, usually made by the father of the family. For some reason I really wanted to create it. And I succeeded. The design is beautiful and pleasant. Solid, yet playful. Made using tambour technique. There is already a desire to make it larger version so that all the rolls or baguettes can fit it easiily. I’m thinking of creating three sizes of the same. I’ll put it into production. The price is fair. I use Canadian red oak wood from Ukraine (!) which adds it an extra dimension – strangely that was the closes timber yard in the area at an affordable for student price. I’m thinking about variations to the same using walnut. There are still projects and there will be more new ones. Let’s keep on creating. x

В прошлом году я была на перепутье – продолжать заниматься ли садовничеством или построить что-то над моими многолетним занятием – плотничеству – и я продолжила заниматься вторым. Отучившись на 3 курсе в колледже Чичестера по специальности Дизайн и изготовление (мебели) – провела год, делая то что мне нравится в окружении единомышленников. Мой прототип называется хлебница – Марта. Это воссоздание американского дизайна хлебницы для домохозяек, изготовляемый обычно отцом семейства. Почему-то очень захотелось его воссоздать. И у меня получилось. Дизайн красив и приятен. Солиден, при этом игрив. Сделан с использованием техники тамбур. Есть уже желание сделать его побольше, чтобы помещались все булки или багеты. Думаю создать три размера для производства. Поставлю на производство. Стоимость честная. Использую дерево канадского красного дуба из Украины (!). Подумываю о вариациях с использованием ореха. Есть еще проекты и будут еще новые. Креатив – это от Души (в этом случае).
